Newboy Posted January 29, 2005 Report Share Posted January 29, 2005 Actually, it doesn't matter if it's a long or short shaft. Since the aux eng will be on an aux bracket which is adjustable (height wise). If you look at the 18' planning hull boat, anything 4+ will be fine. Maverick Martin Posted January 29, 2005 Report Share Posted January 29, 2005 The family 4 is quiet a heavy boat so I would think an engine around 8-10hp would be needed to give you any sort of headway.
