Stuie
Now postponed by Steve Porter until Sunday 28th December 2014. Steve's message - Dear All. Unusually I'm having to make an earlier than normal decision on Sundays Fishing. This is because some private boat owners have the opportunity to fish a flounder competition if the weather is unsuitable for the cod competition. Giving good notice means that they have time to arrange alternative bait etc. Plus the Quay Cafe needs to plan ahead for the afternoon catering so here again, plenty of notice is helpful. Ive been following the weather forecast in detail these past few days and although earlier this week, things were looking good for Sunday, the past couple of days have painted a different picture. At the moment it looks like mean westerly-ish winds or around 20 knots with gusts to 30 or more. The synoptic chart for Sunday backs up the written word. Clearly these conditions will be too much for many vessels and so reluctantly I have decided to POSTPONE THE COMPETITION UNTIL SUNDAY 28TH DECEMBER. This date has proved popular in the past for sea anglers. A couple of points you should be aware of. Anglers who are booked onto a charter boat should contact their skippers. A postponement of the competition doesn't necessarily mean that your skipper will be cancelling his fishing trip on this coming Sunday. Indeed, my own boat may still go to sea if the weather is not quite as forecast. Also any angler that wishes to still fish the new competition date will need to rebook with their respective skipper. Small boat owners who wish to enter the new date will be able to use unused berths in Poole Quay Boat Haven FOC in order to register in the morning and to attend the weigh-in prize giving late afternoon. Permission for this has been granted by the Boat Haven manager, Mr John Binder. Please pass the information contained in this email on to anyone who you might think will be involved in the competition. Information will also be displayed on the Sea Fishing Poole and Trueblue websites as well as Facebook. Kind regards Steve Edited December 4, 2014 by Maverick
