Maverick Martin Posted July 12, 2015 Report Posted July 12, 2015 Dean and I were both itching to take Madness out on our first proper trip & decided that even though the flatfish comp had been cancelled and that the weather was forecast as rubbish we would still go out and make a fool of ourselves. Well the forecasters were correct it was horrid out there with even charter boats anchoring within the lee of Old Harry. We had winds to the top end of given with driving rain and sloppy water with white tops everywhere, not at all pleasant and getting progressively worse as the day went on. We had some drifts along the swash and first drop Dean had a smoothy quickly followed by a nice plaice of around 2.5lb and later on a Brill plus bass and doggy. I managed a tiny small eyed ray. We ended the day in the harbour which although not glorious was more comfortable and added to our species count with Silver eel and numerous checkers. So to sum up, a scratchy uncomfortable day but a good day to give Madness her first run out fishing. budgie, Mal Thomas, Hooky and 10 others 13 Quote

Stuie Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 At long last Martin - great news you were able to get out and use your expertise to find the species - given the conditions. Quote
