Kingfisher 126 Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 Better keep it under our hats they are going in to feed on the sea horses!!!! They would be taken off the endangered list!!! Another chance it will all kick off for the wrong reasons! niggle 1 Quote
great white Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 They may make it into a conservation or Nursery area, but without letting us know what restrictions that brings [if any] and enforcement its just hot air. These rays seem to be well spread through our area, which is great news. Quote
Stuie Posted August 26, 2015 Author Report Posted August 26, 2015 Agreed Charlie - lots being caught and from the shore too - several beached at Hurst in matches on monday evening - not the first by any means - reports at Avon Beach and Steamer Point too - and not just this year. All these areas will need to be protected no doubt.............. I thought the report was too specific and lacking in such detail. Quote
Kingfisher 126 Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 That's what I am saying Stuie, I watched a Parliament debate on bringing in restrictions in Studland regarding the sea-horses. It was a joke the MP was reading from the Daily Mail write up and trying to get a bill passed to stop boats going into the bay and to stop anchoring on the strength of it!!! They need to go over after a good Easterly blow and count the sea-horses on the beach at times, its called nature!! Everyone has an obligation to preserve stocks and every little helps. Have the commercial restrictions been lifted on the undulates does anyone know for sure? Shite someone has just kicked my soapbox away!!!! Stuie and niggle 2 Quote
Stuie Posted August 26, 2015 Author Report Posted August 26, 2015 I believe commercials have been pushing for relaxation of undulate conservation as they argue there are too many. That may be the case locally, but in the grand scheme of things they are not at all widely spread in the south. charlieannear 1 Quote
