Adam F Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I have service all of my lever drags this year, but have a bit of a problem with them...they all work ok, except when I need to use the drag on a running fish - it is very 'sticky' and slips in a jagged motion, not giving line smoothly to a running fish...what is this and how do I cure it? Swainiac Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Adam......two solutions here........1. Open up the drag washers, wipe em down to free them from any surface grease/oil or water, dry them under a hair dryer, ( I have a redundant one now, being a slaphead!), that should sort it. 2. Just give me the old reels, and you buy a new one! Rich Quote
duncan Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Adam, This may be a teach granny job but I had exactly the same symptoms and found that I hadn't located the bit under the lever mechanism correctly to release the spool completely when moved right down. The reels worked but not properly - eventually found my mistake on one reel and guess what, I had made the same on another. Just a thought. Quote
Adam F Posted April 5, 2005 Author Report Posted April 5, 2005 I think the drag washers need drying / cleaning... where are they and how do I get to them? Quote
Swainiac Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Adam, PM Billy...he is mustard on LD's, failing that Reel care will turn em round for Quote
