charlieannear
Do we have any rod repairers in the club? Sam's Ugly Stik spinning rod has lost its tip ring insert, and I don't want to knacker it trying to get the old tip ring assembly off! dicky
very easy to repair. gently heat with a fag lighter to melt glue whilst pulling gently on the ring with a pair of pliers. Once removed take to your local tackle dealer and they should be able to glue a new one on. Or just take to your tackle shop and let them do the whole repair. if you use them regulary they probably only charge for the new ring. it really is only a 5 minute job. PAD
Castaways on Ashley road have done a few for me in the shop or they have a rod builder come in once a week to collect any rods that need a tip or ring fitted at a good price. great white
Dixie in Wessex will also do that for you Charlie, for not much more than the cost of a new top eye
plaicemat
Trust me, Charlie, it's not difficult, even I can do it. And your son will be well impressed with his Dad,
Stuie
Dixie in Wessex will also do that for you Charlie, for not much more than the cost of a new top eye Pay for a quality tip ring though - not one of the cheap silvery ones which rust out quickly. charlieannear
Thanks all, will get the callipers out of the shed and measure the diameter of the rod, and then get a decent tip ring Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Mal Thomas
Neal
You should have had it fixed by now....... Just drop it in at Castaways on the way past and pick it up the following week, it will save you all the messing about. It is an easy fix - but you have spent more time and effort on here than getting it sorted. Sound familiar?
Brian
It's a 5 min job. New top ring, thermal glue, match or lighter.
Rob
Crikey, with all the time out in to this thread we could have rebuilt the rod! Is fishing slow? R

charlieannear
Seemed to be a complete pain in the arse to try and get a tip ring ring which was both good quality and the right size. Veals kit was out of stock, and I didn't want to get a big kit and end up with a box of tip rings that didn't fit any of my limited selection of rods... So took it to Castaways and got it fixed. £4 job done Now if only this weather would do one... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
condrew
I also recommend Castaways. They have a good service.
