Leicester Fisheagle
With no crew being available am. (One had been fishing five consecutive days) due to exaustion and a possible excess of the red stuff, I left Cobbs around 4 pm. Our aim was to get away from the crowds and four rock marks beckoned. We were in search of the elusive Rock Cooke. In my view, this highly prized species is locally now one the rarest wrasse. It has a dark band on its tail and can easily be confused and misidentified. Our hopes were high, but after catching around a hundred wrasse and loosing tackle, we gave up and called it a day. No Rock Cooke this time. The search goes on. The evening was to be a short local Sole Trip for an hour or so. Our chosen spot has produced quite quickly over the last couple of years. The tide was perfect, but rafts of surface weed hampered fishing. A good number of checkers were caught and the Dave had three nice Flounders between 1.5 lbs and 2 lbs.which were returned. Nice fish for this this time of the year. The Sole will have to wait for next time.It was a perfect way to finish a beautiful sunny weekend. Allan.
