Leicester Fisheagle
Is there any one out there with four or five meters of suitable heavy mono to make up a few shark traces? I have plenty of wire but prefer not to use it. Alternatively, does anyone make a small spool of hard mono? I have seen 100 meter spools of 500 lbs. Hard mono for sale around £50 but don't really want to pay that to make up two or three traces. Allan.

Leicester Fisheagle
Told that could be too soft but certainly cheaper.

gaffa
I use Rovex 10x mono leader up to 200lb BS but if need over that i would use strimmer nylon . I would still use a wire bite trace if targeting those toothy critters

Rob
I don't use below 300 for blues and target porgies with 400.It's not about the strength but the ease to handle and hold angry fish with doing harm to yourself or the shark.R
Leicester Fisheagle
Have plenty of Rovex 10x at 200lbs. Will check local shops.
great white
Good source is UK Hooks. They sell the heavy Mono in 10 metre coils I have found that mono seems to work quite well for tope traces if used with Circle hooks [Also available from UK Hooks] not the end of the world if the odd ones bites you off. For the bigger ones we still use short single strand wire biting ends and J hooks. Wire bought in the states is quite stiff. The stuff sourced through military much softer, Thought that I had run out a while ago, then when we moved in December found a couple of spools when packing up my loft, let me know if you want a few metres Alan/Rob. Leicester Fisheagle
Thanks, but they wanted 50 quid for 100 meters of hard nylon. Only want to make two or three traces. great white
