Tarlach. Posted February 2, 2019 Report Posted February 2, 2019 That’s doesn’t sound very healthy for the area !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Steve H Posted February 2, 2019 Author Report Posted February 2, 2019 Yes, the 6753 tons of chemicals and 8 tons of biocide that’s going to be discharged into the water doesn’t sound good at all charlieannear 1 Quote
Seadog Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 The oil rig has now come to the attention of the media this morning, what I don’t understand is one minute we hear about a marine conservation area around here then a oil rig turns up to explore the site. They say they were only test bore holes but why allow them to do this if you were not allowing them to extract the oil. It was also mentioned B.P found deposits before there? Quote
2006holmwood Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 They will extract the oil but drill from the shore , as they did before. don`t like the idea of the chemicals , but no oil means no fuel for your boat. or car or heating. Bassdaze 1 Quote
boyscott Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 Anyone know what the exclusion zone is? Understandably there are mixed feelings but its pretty close to some popular marks so Feb is not a bad month to choose as long as there are no long term effects. Quote
DPD Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 There should be a safety boat out there keeping a 500m safety zone. boyscott 1 Quote
sparky Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 Was out yesterday and there appears to be 3 ships anchored around the area, at a guess probably 1/2 mile way from rig. boyscott 1 Quote
boyscott Posted February 4, 2019 Report Posted February 4, 2019 I had forgotten about the live AIS feed - good view of where support vessels are positioned Quote
Seadog Posted February 7, 2019 Report Posted February 7, 2019 If you type in google search ENSCO 72 a link to the marinetraffic.com will appear, on there you can view the track marks where the rig is slowly moving around the area. Bassdaze 1 Quote
Seadog Posted February 19, 2019 Report Posted February 19, 2019 More news tonight that ENSCO 72 has asked for an extension for drilling in the area also another company is showing interest. Quote
Rob Posted February 19, 2019 Report Posted February 19, 2019 The end goal is to tap in to the resources from land if found. Shame, no fish holding rigs! Bring back the wind farm!!!!R Quote
charlieannear Posted February 19, 2019 Report Posted February 19, 2019 The problem is they quoted 6700 tons of chemicals initially. It’ll be at least double that now. So that’s 16 tons of biocide. It’s for bacterial control, but who knows what else it’ll affect?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
sparky Posted February 20, 2019 Report Posted February 20, 2019 So adding compounds to antifoul will literally be a drop in the ocean ! gonorn, 2006holmwood, Jim and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Kingfisher 126 Posted March 17, 2019 Report Posted March 17, 2019 Now on its way from the bay heading up north. Heading for shipping lane before turning. Jim and boyscott 2 Quote
boyscott Posted March 17, 2019 Report Posted March 17, 2019 With the weather improving we can head out to see if there's any fish left in the bay 😉 Jim 1 Quote
