kaptin kod
Being quite new to this boating lark I am looking for a nice comfortable launch site, down your way where we can have an easy days fishing without to much hassle. Any info on sites or marks would be gratefully recieved.

Newboy
When you said 'your' way, where exactly do you mean? Where are you coming from? Depending where you want to fish, ease of use, cost, distance, what car you have,....will all play a part in your final decision. If cost is no object (

kaptin kod
Sorry, should have been a bit clearer, coming down from Cardiff area, vehicle is a 4X4 Pajero so no problems with that. We were looking for somewhere easy to start with where you can launch and retrieve at even low water should the need arise, preferably with some decent fishing, but
domino
Well assuming you turn left on leaving Wales, down the M5 and then cut across from around Taunton... then you will hit Weymouth about 45 mins before Poole. As has been said Weymouth Town slip is excellent at all states of the tide, it looks like it's
Swainiac
Kaptain.........if you get in touch with BoyBilly, via a Personal Message, a great facility on this site, he can advise you re Parking in Weymouth, he may also be able to guide a "tight welshman <gggg>" to some ares of cheap if not free parking. Give him a try mate. Rich

Seamouse
If you want to fish further east Swanwick is free and available three hours either side or so, access to the Hamble and Southampton Water. For Portsmouth and the Solent, there's supposed to be a good slip at Gilkicker but I've not tried it yet. There are slips into Langstone Water from both the Eastney and the Hayling Island sides. Launch is about
jack
The boatyard at Ferrybridge has a great slip, usually fairly quiet, and puts you immediately into portland harbour, parking is on site,or if peak season, huge carpark 100yds away, can't say about price, perhaps one of our "geniuses" can pull you up a fancy little underlined job to click onto.....jack [2]..Mudiford car park has firm Harbour facing, beach launch ,in the extreme corner, pay car park, slip only charged w/ends and bank hols .Quick access to Xchurch ledge etc....jack
Newboy
Most of the slips in/around southampton are free, Hythe, Hamble, Warsash,..... Warsash is the best in term of value, it costs nothing to launch and nothing to park , access all tide barring an hour either side of low tide, still possible with 4x4. Hythe has a concrete slip you pay to park and that's it. Only problem, most of these slip involve a long steaming down to the open sea, unless you only want to fish the solent. Bob F
Kaptain Kod, Let us know when you intend to come down and where you'd like to fish from (Weymouth, Poole, Christchurch, etc). Most weekends we will have boats going out, and so maybe we can arrange for you to meet with one of our boats, help you launch, and follow the boat out to a fishing mark. Just let us know when you are coming down Bob F
