Adam F
Yes, after the Burnham comp on Sunday I also fished the next 2 days!! Rach wanted to have a crack, so we popped out on Monday for a few hours. The ledge produced bream, wrasse, pout etc... the wind then got up and Rach's sealegs stopped working so we came in to sunbathe in the harbour for a few hours. Today (tues) I promised to take my father fishing as I have had BW for over a year now and he still hasnt been out....he only like it calm and wanting to get a band in the rod I opted for a trip to the solent for the bream. Plenty of shelter, a short run to the grounds and sporting smoothies - hopefully. Gordon and paul on Neo also joined us. Mackerel were scarce of the Sconce buoy we only caught 5 so we headed down to Sowley for a crack at the smuts. The weed was OK to begin with as the tide was falling away and the smuts obliged almost straight away, nothing big, but up to 8lb in weight. A nice 8lb Thornback then obliged. The tide then begin to build and made the fishing evry hard - maybe we should have picked a smaller tide?? We had another few fish before Graham (dad) hooked a real beast of a fish on my 30lb class gear. He fought it for maybe 10 mins with it making several searing runs against a tight drag on the TLD15. Finally we had it under the boat, but it then tangled in the other rods making giving it line almost impossible. A brief glimpse showed us a good uppper double smoothy - but then it straightend the hook - GUTTED! Anyway, the weather behaved, we caught a few fish and dad had a good day. Shame - 3 days for work now before I can go again! Roll on the weekend and light winds!
Manic Moore
Yes another good day out, thanks Paul. My first Smooth Hound at about 3lb, then another at 7lb 3oz and finally a 4lb before the weed got too much. Pictures are some of Pauls haul today

Newboy
As promised took the family out for a spin. It was a late start, kids didn't want to get up in the morning. Talking of small world, saw another boat, a warrior 175 from Andover, (only spoke to him on Sunday) down on the slip. We went out to the ledge for a bit but the kids said the sea was too choppy so we moved back into the solent, first for mackeral at Sconse point, had about 10, the kids loved it, but then it just stopped. Moved over to where Neo was fishing, Newtown(?), then decided to see what Park Shore is like. Metcheck forecasted a F2, and Accuweather a F1-F2, but it was more like at least a 3, might even be 4 at one point. On a South Westerly, Park Shore was well exposed. Interesting tho, there ain't much space to anchor as the channel took most of the rive mouth and what's left is pretty shallow, single digit as soon as we leave the channel. Double back over to the IOW, one bay up from where Neo was, for a bit of shelter from the SW wind. Fished for about 2 hours, plenty of dog, a couple of bream, a small smut about 2 lb. Fun day go, the family enjoyed it, only have another 4 hours left for the engine to be broken in.
