Afishionado
has he beached it? or crashed onto the island? Crashed I dare say. Just on the port side going into Poole harbour there is a big gravel and stone bank. It is very clearly marked by bouys. The channel rapidly shelves from 50ft to 2ft within 50ft or so. Stony Island is covered at high tide but it is easy to see from the swirling of the currents over it. Inside Stony there is a wide open area of water, smooth and flat usually. Every year there are several duck ups as large power power boats ignore the speed limit and rules of navigation and plough into it. Some of the best ones are the high powered speed boats steered by neanderthals who are screaming along at full power, see the flat water beyond Stony and steer straight for it. The banshee howl of 200hp at 6000rpm is shattered by a WHOOPH as the prop hits the stones, bits of expensive metal fly through the plume of spray and pebbles, and the propless engine revs up to an impossible 10000rpm just before the con rods break loose and shoot through the crank case On the other hand if you want a family trip at Poole, venturing carefully round the back of Stony one can anchor up in shallow water and let the kids explore 'their own island'. blueboatdriver
Apparently he was delivering it for somebody. He had only just left Salterns. Didn't get far!

Mad Mike Even better is their puzzled look as they peer over the side of the boat to see what has happened. Then one of the goons gets out of the boat with his trousers all rolled up to the knee. As he steps gingerly into 2" of water amazed wonderment crosses his face, rapidly followed by total disbelief. Eventualy another goon steps out and wanders back along the path they took. He soon discovers that rolled up trousers are no protection against wet clothes as he steps from Stony Islands sheer edge and straight into 5ft of water. Oh the joy of seeing a group of tossers reaping the benifits of their ignorance and attitude Mad Mike
