plaicemat Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Living a long way from Poole, I am limited as to the number of days I can get down and these seem to be limited even more by the permutation of getting weather and tides right. I have decided to eliminate one of these factors by putting my hand in my pocket and opting for a Cobbs Quay season pass. Just one point, is it suitable for launching anytime or are there limitations? I have been out from there with Martin and it seems straight forward enough. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Terry No limits, just pay and go, expensive though at Quote
plaicemat Posted July 3, 2005 Author Report Posted July 3, 2005 Thanx for that, Martin. Expensive, I know, but I think viable if it gives me more time on the water and less hassle launching. Quote
Newboy Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 NO problems, but a small hazzle if you can call it that. At low water the side is a long way to the waterline, making loading and getting on or off difficult, but there is a a plontoon round the corner. Have you try Davies boatyard next door? It's over Quote
plaicemat Posted July 3, 2005 Author Report Posted July 3, 2005 Access is no problem as I have a Discovery. Does that creek dry out at low water? If not, seems like a good idea to save Quote
Newboy Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 To the right it dries out but as long as you keep to the channel, you haven't any problems. One thing, I would check their time of opening tho, Cobbs' 24 hrs, not sure about Davies. Quote

Maverick Martin Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Last year Davis's was 160 for 6 months summer season only. They will not allow access during the winter months due to the yard being full of boats taking hard standing there is no parking Cobbs is the only real alternative to Baiter, costs more but imo worth it Martin Quote
plaicemat Posted July 3, 2005 Author Report Posted July 3, 2005 Right, thanx for all that, chaps, I think those last comments have made my mind up. I'll come down at the weekend and sort things out. Quote
Maverick Martin Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Weymouth costs the earth to park near the slip Mike I have never paid anything to launch or park in Weymouth. No one at the slip at 7am to take the money and as for parking you might have to walk a fair distance but its free if you can find a space up the side roads Martin Quote
Paul D Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 Mike, I was lazy once at Weymouth and parked in the multi-storey by the slipway. Can't remember the price but something like Quote
Newboy Posted July 3, 2005 Report Posted July 3, 2005 In Lymington, You can park on the road 2 blocks away. Less than 5 mins walk. Quote
