jerry.shutter Posted June 16, 2023 Report Posted June 16, 2023 Two friends who I had promised a trip for ages were both free for a last minute trip. Bait was needed, and it was just like old times, within half an hour we had enough Mackerel for the day. Off to the SW Banks to look for a Tope or two, when we got there I decided to anchor rather than drift. Wrong, although the tide had been ebbing for over 2 hrs it was totally dormant, we were swinging in all directions, so a drift was set, after a while we did manage 4 small pack Tope, but all small and disappointing. Suddenly the tide was running at 2.5-3knots 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️The tides out of Poole I find impossible sometimes. So we headed in to get away from a fierce tide, after losing a good Ray in the tide we finally bought 4 to the boat, best weighing 15lbs 5oz which took over 30mins to get to the boat!!!!!!! in 2knots of tide. The boys enjoyed the day, stunning weather, a few better fish and a few Mackerel for tea. Gummage, Steve S, 2006holmwood and 8 others 11 Quote
