I went ahead with my sole trip on wednesday as planned .I went out late and headed straight down to barton. There was quite a brisk wind from the west but it was fishabil. As usual there were loads of fish on the mark mainly bream and small bass ,I also managed 2 small small eyed rays, great fun on a spinning rod!

We Had to wait an hour into dark for the first sole and only a little slip.,followed by two more, only one to me but the biggest at 1lb 6oz. ran out of worms by 12.30 so a fairly early finish. I think we would of had more sole if there hadnt been so many bream and spiders robbing the baits. mad.gif but mission accomplished biggrin.gif

I also managed a trip thursday afternoon for those bass cool.gif

we started off on the ledge and headed out to the Island, freshwater ridges and had a go on the bridge wich wasnt for the faint hearted with huge overfalls kicked up by the massive tide.It made me glad that the raider had such high gunnels. we seemed to get bass just about everywhere we tryed. with about 10 on the boat and a few lost fish, my best fish went 9lb 4oz, and 8lb with a couple of 4lbers aswell .

We met up with Paul J on the ledge on the way in and had a drift up the run with live mackrel,(something ive always wanted to do),but no bass there.A fantastic day afloat and a few new marks found biggrin.gif

Tight lines

Yep The flurocarbon seemed to work as did the portland rig. biggrin.gif

Its got to be one of the best types of fishing there is, 6 to 12lb rod 20lb braid to and 2oz of lead. Those bass hit like an express train! and fight every inch of the way to the boat! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
