Went out today with a the boats co-owner and his kids (Loadsa mackerel, but only kept a few) howeve on a long trip round the harbour I saw loads of commercial lads out in various places in the harbour obviously drift lining for bass. Also several in the Haven doing the same. I thought that was a no no these days????

Second thing anyone going out of Poole to watch the Red Arrows on Friday (12 noon)??

You're right fishing for Bass from a boat west of a line from Gerry's Point to Branksea Castle to Salterns Marina is illegal (1st April to 31st Oct)

Fisheries Patrol are very keen at the moment, apparently talking to all fishing boats, private and commercial. I was drifting near Gold Point and the Fisheries Patrol boat came alongside to ensure we weren't fishing for Bass. He appeared surprised that I knew the limits, dates that they applied and had a minimum size chart.
