Speciman Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 4 of us fished from our kayaks today near the channel by Salterns Marina from 8am till 4pm. Caught bass, gurnard, mackeral, gilthead bream, and one red mullet between us. Nothing of any great size. There were plenty of spider crabs out there today. The harbour seemed quiet what with the summer holidays being over for most. Quote
great white Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Hi specimen I thought that was probably you when I saw the 4 fishing Kayaks this morning from the Yacht Club. I was tempted to grab a RIB and come over to say hello but thought my Boss would wonder what was going on. You certainly had a good day for it. If you launch there again pop over to the Yacht Haven and say hello, I would love to have a closer look at your set ups charlie Quote
Maverick Martin Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Nice one simon A good variety of fish for the harbour Martin Quote
Bob F Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Are Giltheads common in the harbour??? Do we have a club record for one? BF Quote
Maverick Martin Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Not at all common Bob in fact I have never heard of one being caught in hte harbour before Martin Quote
duncan Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 hmmm looks like I have missed another (not bothering to weigh a coalfish 'cos it was only a couple of pounds) club record then......will go back and catch another gilthead. They aren't huge (mainly around 1lb) but there are some on at least one area I know. Quote
