Coddy
The first Cod of the Winter 2005 season was landed on Wednesday 5th October, aboard 'True Blue' from Poole. Well known local boat Angler Alan Dobson, a veteran of many local and national competitions, landed the fish on a worm and squid cocktail whilst fishing to the east of Poole Bay. Alan is a regular aboard 'True Blue' and belongs to a local group known affectionately as the ' Last of the Summer Wine' Crew . The fish was weighed at 6lb 4oz and photographed before being prepared for the table. This Cod was part of a catch of nine species including, smoothhounds, dogfish, mackerel, scad, ballan wrasse, black bream, pout, and a good size grey mullet caught on baited feathers! 'True Blue' has also been invited and will be taking part in the British Cod Championships to be held out of Yarmouth, IOW, on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th November 2005. This past week produced over fourteen different species of fish for Anglers aboard 'True Blue' from Poole. As always the best was saved until last with yesterday, Sunday 16th October, producing this 6lb Cod for local Angler Graham Archer from the Winton Workmen's Angling Club in Bournemouth. The fish took whole calamari squid presented on 6/0 hooks, heavy mono trace and Penn rod and reel. This is the second inshore Cod for 'True Blue', skippered by Malcolm Collins, to be landed in Poole Bay in the last fortnight. A good start to the Winter season. courtesy of Sea Angling News Coddy
great white
A bit sad when 6lb cod get mentioned in such a way, [ No disrespect Alun] lets hope that the fish get a chance to return, but I think it will need more than just luck and crossed fingers to make that happen.
