now you are getting the hang of this lark Jack! Does it have harness lugs and have you got a good one? I am still looking out for one so can you let me kow what you find?

personally I wouldn't want to head out with the reel until I was absolutely sure I was going to hook up a beast, and land it.

I can let you have some 16/0 hooks - do you have 250lb wire trace material and some 400lb nylon for leaders and rubbing traces?

Thanks for all the useful tips and tackle help chaps,,yes Duncan the reel does have lugs.I dont have a harness as such, would it be a good idea to use 2 short straps to attatch the reel to my life jacket lifting rings ?. my main concern in all this is the fear I should be dragged overboard, perhaps I should get Andy to lash me to the large rear cleat...Still living in hope...jack

Jack - now I am seriously concerned.

Please please don't use a harness attached to this wonderfull reel unless you are properly strapped into your fighting chair.

Your life is at risk.

Ideally the harness is integrated to your chair I believe - I am sure you remeber the detail of this illustrated earlier but in case you missed it

if you look closely (no not there - lower) you will see the harness clearly.........

Duncan, are you saying only use a harness if one is strapped down to a chair (fixed point)?

Recently I fished for skate and I wouldn't recommend anyone trying for one without a harness blink.gif , as it gives you slots in a fight for rests.

I don't think wearing a harness will drag you into the unknown depth. Most harness I see/use will slip over the head easily if bend over and raise arms above head.

I think you may be taking this thread a little seriously!! tongue.gif I personally advocate a decent amount of duck tape to secure the rod! biggrin.gif Although I may need to see the picture above just once more to check.... biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
