CREZZ
Hi everyone , I am a new club member writing my first report , so please forgive the quality , me and my english teachers at school never did see things the same way . Arrived at baiter 9-30 and parked next to an Orkney 520 getting ready to go , spent the next 10 mins drooling and wishing i'd saved my pennies instead of investing them in licenced premises . We ready'd Slipalong ( Our Orkney Strikeliner ) for launching and followed the 520 down the slipway This is our first boat so still a bit green in lots of area's of boating ,. The tide was right out and we had to tip the boat off the trailer right on the end of the slip , by the 10 knot signs. Good job the 520 went first , we would have walked it right off the end off the slip . I volunteered to hold the boat while my father in law pulled the trailer all the way back to the car park , i dont think he was too impressed . It was about this time i realised my new Ron Thompson waders had sprung a leak , cosmic , wet bloody feet for the rest of the day , cheap crap ! . Decided to see if the engine would start as it broke down on us last time out , eventually it come to life although a bit lumpy on tick over . Eventually old bob came back down the slip looking like he'd just run the london marathon , i asked him what took him so long , something off was his reply . Heading out we looked across towards Fishermans dock and could see The Prodigy pulling up a mooring so decided to pull up nearby and try our luck . Fished for about an hour without a sniff so decided to move in a bit closer to the shore . Again nothing , Only consalation was that no one else was catching either . Fished up to high water and not a single bite , again . Decided to call it a day and have a run through to holes bay . As we moved off Gary shouted at us to come alongside The Prodigy , brave man ! with me at the helm . After a bit of coaching we tied up and climbed on board . Had a quick chat and pushed off towards holes bay , my parting words to Gary were i dont want any bloody photo messages of fish after we had gone , we cruised under the bridge and out into the bay , sad but that was the first time i've ever done that , turned round and give the motor a good blast up through the main channel . 35 knots !!!!!! not bad for a 25 yam . And then back to the slip . wet feet time again , bloody Ron Thompson , boat returned to trailer first time and home for a wash down and a cup of tea . 2 hours later my mobile rings . multimedia message received . 2 nice size flounders . Prodigy 2 Slipalong
Maverick Martin
Hi Andy Nice first report even though you were fishless Gary's the flounder master so you would do well to learn from him. The learning curve is quite steep but given time you will I'm sure become profficient in all areas including catching fish If you would like to speed up the learning process join in the training day, register for courses and keep an eye on the boat buddy heading on this forum, its amazing what you could learn in one trip afloat with an experienced boater/angler. By the way I have updated your status in the forum to that of club member Martin
