Newboy
Fred, Excellent report, shame the flatties didn't play game, but at least the pollocks did. Hope the guys fare better in the Alderney trip. Mind you I'm off to Gurensey for 3 days next monday and hope the flatties there know the game plan. duncan
am I missing something - surely 12 turbot is good? certainly not in the 'flatties not playing' arena anyway?
Newboy
Sorry I didn't mean number but the variaties, like brill and plaice.
duncan
do you get many plaice on the banks in Alderney then? are they there but no one fishes for them as they are after turbot and brill?

crazy fred
we only target the turbot if we catch anything else we get fined so we dont fish for any thing else
Swainiac
I may be wrong......in fact probably am, but dont the plaice frequently get caught in the bays and coves all around Alderney? I've read a few reports of fish being landed, especially from the beach below where we were Wrasse fishing two trips ago. Rich
AlderneyBassman
To be honest with you plaice here have been given the status usually reserved for unicorns and krakens they are that rare from the shore now However my mate who does a lot of diving often stabs plaice up to about 7lb The thing is we never use worms drifting from the boat over the banks, dont know if any of the charter boats do either. Everyone seems preoccupied in chasing the big 3 bass, brill and turbot. Time to experiment methinks
