Paul I think you were using Salt-X to get the salt form your reels on our Alderney trip - if so what strength mixture do you use and are you ahppy with the results?

Any one else use Salt-X or similar?

for the spray bottles i just guess it and put about an inch in the bottom and fill it with water.

yes im pleased with the results and it gives peace of mind.

I have a bucket for dipping and soaking- works wonders on terminal tackle- tobys spinners, hooks etc

I bought a little 1 gal plastic 'dustbin' with a lid, the sort used as waste paper bins. I 3/4 fill this, add 2oz Salt-x and soak everything in it. For a hand spray bottle, I add 1/2oz salt-ex and top up with water and spray the rod fittings, rings, etc., and any parts of the boat which may be susceptible, e.g. stainless fittings, trim tabs, engine and hydraulic kit, etc. If you don't wash it off, it leaves a film which gives a degree of protection next time out.

After a successful day, after washing down the inside of the boat, I also spray the deck with Phew-x which keeps down the niff of a boat interior under a cover and hot sun.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I can confirm it is good stuff. smile.gif

I tend not to look after my reels well as some of the salt deposits show, however I used a 1ltr tub, from an old ice cream tub, and added x2 capfulls (20ml) correct mix is 15ml, and left the reel overnight. All nice and clean, I did strip the reel down first as it needed lubrication as well.

Wonderful stuff, just got to find an old spray bottle now to keep on the boat.
