A Good Day For Fish A Bad Day For Tackle

Peter Russell and I had a good days fishing on the Purbeck coast.

After a number of average Bream we hit big fish with the best of 3lb 14 oz to Peter and I had a 15lb 8oz Undulate Ray .

 

Then disaster, my rod and reel flew over the back of the baot never to be seen again. Possibly another large ray.

 

If anyone fishing off Winspit finds a Penn Downrigger with a Abu 5600 Green reel , it is mine, i would be very pleased to get it back.

My sympathies !! It happened to me last winter on Neo, with Paul D. ; over his gunnel jumped my Solid Carbon rod with a 6600 LD lever drag reel .......... so I know how you feel !

Alun, I'd see the loss of the rod as bad, but the reel complete with chocolate gearing a true Godsend!!!!!

Peter should have entered the dolphins comp as his best would have been a winning fish, but hindsight is a great thing.

What about insurance?

 

Are you a member of NFSA?

 

Not 100% but i think i heard somewhere that they insure for tackle loss like this (not hooks and leads though.)

 

Does anyone know about this? true or untrue?

I think you will find that the NFSA insurance is a kind of public liability insurance cover although I'm not 100% on that. You might like to look at your household insurance that may cover sporting equipment some do.
