Well we had a great time in the keys with the fishing early or late and shopping for the FPO during the day. 80 degrees + every day made it a little on the hot side for fishing but I stuck at it rolleyes.gif , usually late at night or very early in the morning. On reflection I would say the fishing further up the coast towards Fort Myers is a little easier as more beach areas are available and in the keys most people are geared up to fish from boats. Well once I got the right tides and bait the fish started to come, with a few small snappers, a Lady Fish of about 5lb, which was very exciting and acrobatic at 1am in the morning. While on the gulf side for a few days I had a steady stream of small Barracuda to 5lb and a bonus sting ray of about 15lb. In the process loosing a number of reel churning biggies on my small

Glad you enjoyed Florida, Gordon. There is plenty of ad hoc fishing to be had, as you have found out and with a bit of research and local knowledge, the boat fishing can be great and not necessarily too expensive. I think I'll probably be down there November time when the deer hunting season starts. Hunting early morning, fishing later in the day. Great.
