Coddy
Hi all For those who have fitted an external fuel filter, those clear see-through type, onto their fuel line to the outboard, if you haven't replaced it in the last 12mths then can I suggest you do so or carry a spare with you on the boat. The reason for this is that on Saturday, I changed over tanks just before we headed home and as I pumped the fuel up the line with the hand bulb, I noticed a squirt of petrol from somewhere when it was under pressure. As I moved the fuel line the filter came apart in my hands! Now I didn't have a spare with me, thats was in the shed at home! However I did manage to remove the engine connector from the old f/filter and get enough line to reach the engine. I will now carry a spare with me and another fuel pipe just in case. Seems the plastic has weathered due to uv exsposure as it sits outside all the time and with all the other conditions it has to contend with I suppose it has done well. It has lasted about 2+yrs. Thought it might help others to just check their filters over before that next trip, just in case. Newboy
I also carry a spare primer, as I once had a primer failed on me. Had to do a lot of hose bending to get the vaccum.
