great white
accepted a trip with Humphrey today Dan and i joined Humphrey and Neil at 0700 for a trip 20 miles out to have a go at teh Cod. We had decided to join other Club boats for the trip to the cod marks, and try not to be distracted after wreck pollack en route. It was a slow day compared to the recent reports, but after 5 months of boat building it was great to be afloat with the rods again. Neil started the ball rolling with a small cod that went back and swam away very strongly. As the tide increased we were thinking of moving when wallop, a fully bent and nodding uptider and ABU 7000 giving line, reminded me of why I am building an Offshore angling boat. After enjoying playing the best fish I have hooked for ages, a very plump 15lb 7 oz cod was well netted by Dan, for his well pleased Dad. A short while later another of 5Lb 8oz also took a fancy to my rubber twin tail. As I said earlier a slower day than other recent trips, we worked hard for our three cod but I really enjoyed myself. JIMBOB
Nice one Charlie, good to see you getting in on the action, I'm surprised you didn't get Humphrey to drop the anchor on one of those mid channel wrecks for a conger or two. great white
Hi James When it is my boat again I am sure we will The intention on Sat was to go for the cod, so we stuck with it. Humphrey likes to fish more for table fish than the harder fighting varieties as we do mate. We did have a couple of very slow drifts by a rusty bit and I tried dragging a flapper, but the wreck got the gear before a fish did I am sure we will get the chance to give the congers a go as soon as the boats done. charlie
