bootlegger Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Whilst you're bereft of a boat you're more than welcome to crew for me and Dan on Bootlegger. I'm back from London on the evening of the 28th of August and at home until 5/09/06 and we're planning a few jaunts onto the ledge that week if you're interested. Quote
Newboy Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 What length was Gnasher? I think the CJR is only 15-16'? Quote
Gnasher Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 (edited) cheers bootlegger, pm me your number, ive a few ledge marks up my sleeve. Kam, Gnasher was 15ft, a 16footer would be ok if the cabin wasnt to big. A 17footer would ideal. Ive been offered a 17ft open top dory with a 30hp and trailer for a good price, but i want a bit of shelter as my boy wants somewhere to hide if it starts raining. Mike Fox Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 I brought a stack of free boat mags (ads etc) back from France, and I reckon they're all cheaper out there. Happy to bring them down to the next club meet if you can hang on that long. Mike Quote
Gnasher Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 F112385 on boats and outboards.....microplus for Quote
bootlegger Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 On the face of it it appears exectly what you're looking for, so long as the hull is OK (no sign of Osmosis blistering) the boat itself should be OK. The most important thing then is the condition of the outboard and trailer, I note that it's a 40 HP Mariner (that could be an ex RNLI contract engine) if it is it's likely to be in good nick as they only keep them for about 3 years and then get rid of them. With regards the trailer I'm not really up to load weights on unbraked trailers so I can't comment but generally if the bearings are OK then it should be OK. Everything else would be pretty much cosmetic. I could look at the boat for you (if it's not in deepest Kent) as Kent is only accross the Thames from where I work and I have a mate that lives in Sandwich. Quote
Wedger Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 Brakes are required above 600kgs loaded and I doubt this is near that. If you don't need the brakes for safety or the law then I would do without as they are a real pain. Quote
Gnasher Posted August 20, 2006 Author Report Posted August 20, 2006 i think ive pulled a rabbit out of a hat.........theres something lined up and its not the microplus Quote
