Maverick Martin
Well your site and forum have been up and running for 6 months now and boy has it been a success or what. We have had over 12590 visits and only 12589 of them were me . In computer speak we have had 798986 hits, that is phenomenal and a round of applause are in order for the Webmaster and his crew. It is our ambition to make the site self-funding. The club can afford to fund the site itself but that does use up valuable resources that could be spent on other projects. We currently have links to affiliate companies that generates a very small amount of income ie: Tackle bargains, Amazon and have had a small donation from Poole Sea Angling Centre. I have tried several companies that have given the signal that they are interested but nothing seems to ever materialise. What we could do with now is some sponsorship from either local or national companies that are preferably fishing or boating related to either sponsor part of the site or pay for advertising space on the site/forum. Anyone got any ideas as mine are fast running out? Answers on an email or PM please, dont want the opposition to get there first. Cheers Martin
Afishionado
Lets haul this up the flagstaff and see how the cookie crumbles (Am I talking like an advertising man yet?) I don't know if people like Shimano etc would pay for us having their logo on our boats, or for that matter if all the members would want that. But if our 'Fleet' were all to show the logo of a particular sponsor I think we might get a little sponsorship money. What is needed is a portfolio of what we can do for a sponsor. The more visability and press coverage we can offer the more chance of sponsorship money we stand. These things are best treated in a wholistic way. One should be able to show a presence in all media, not just the web. Local and national news papers or specialist magazines, radio, TV even. The more lively and outgoing the presence of the organization is the more likely it is to attract sponsorship. Writers of editorial material for media use are usually delighted when someone makes their job easy by putting a ready made neat little 1000 word story on a plate infront of them. They probably wont use it immediatly, but they will keep it for one of their 'rainy days'. Therefore one needs to address all media frequently to ensure a ready quantity of 'hits' on someone, somewheres off day. In other words being a press officer aint easy.
