Afishionado
We'll be launching at Cobbs at about 10am (none of this 'sparrows fart' for me) and going ???????????????? dunno yet, but I am open to suggestions. More than likely westward towards Whithouse Grounds I guess. Mark and I would be delighted to lend loads of redundant advice, and barely concealed mirth at others misfortune when launching and recovering. (We will have done our launch quietly to one side whilst no one else is looking!) But then again if you are that desparate we would deem it an honour to share our meager know how. The boats name is Pride of Morpork and if you still want company call me on 01202 570555.. Mad Mike

Coddy
Don't for get it is one of the biggest tides for the next 16yrs this week-end! Coddy
gaffa
What are pro's and cons of the big tide's guys Sunday will only be my fifth time out from Cobbs and I have no real local experience of the grounds. Any Tips? I did get out last Wednesday and fished Christchurch Ledges and had a few bream. Which direction from Poole harbour would you recommend Any Info or Marks greatfully received Cheers Pete
duncan
it's all going to be about the 'breeze' - really light winds and I would suggest drifting around off Winspit / Dancing ledge for bass in the tide and anchoring the slack for rays or whatever. Even heading onto the reef at the outer edge of Chapmans pool if you are sure your return via St Albans ledge wont be a problem. else head east into the bay for the mixed sport that offers - loads of species will be available. if the breeze kicks up do do beware the possible conditions around headlands and ledges that a really fast tide can create. great white
It sounds like a few will be out this Sunday Please pre book with Me or Peter for the species comp, even if you are not just concentrating on the competition all you have to do is pre book and let me know what you have caught asap afterwards [The report form is on this website] we need 10 anglers to count it towards the BFM and to give the leaders some competition Tight lines Charlie
Harry S
Mike, Keith, Martin, Duncan, Thanks for the replies. I hope to be at Cobbs at around 0930 for a 1000 launch. Nice to know that there will be boats around. I have no idea of local area so would like to tag along with whoever I can. Will be flying the club pennant and looking lost/bewildered. All the best, Harry
gaffa
Charlie, I will be out from Cobbs Quay around 10 oclock on Sunday-tomorrow. I will have 1 non-member with me and will only be able to listen in on VHF -Aint got my quali's yet- got your mobile number though. If I give you a ring on mobile prior to Launch will this qualify for competition entry . If so book me in. I'm the one with the very strange looking boat flying a pennant and fishing off the bow rather than the stern. Hope everyone has a really good day Pete
Harry S
Mike, Keith, Martin, Duncan, Charlie, Sorry I missed you all on Sunday - some last minute chores at home delayed my departure and I finally launched at 1100 from Cobbs. Very impressed with the facilities, ease of launch & parking etc. Just cleared under the bridge and found my way out to sea and had a great day fiddling about in Studland & Swanage Bays. Caught half a dozen mackeral off Old Harry and kids swam ashore etc. Exciting tidal races here and there - altogether a good day out. Didn't see a single club pennant! Hope to meet you all on another day! Regards, Harry & son Edited September 13, 2006 by Hook'n'Eye
duncan
Harry - I think I saw you pass behind Phaeton when it was attached to a buoy close in off Swanage beach around 1330h - you were heading from Swanage back across the bay. Well I think it was you!?

Harry S
Duncan, Yes that was me looking for a safe place for the kids to swim ashore! Will return there next time for a picnic and a few beers! I expect my pennant was conspicuous as it is still free of engine oil and coffee stains. duncan
hmmmmmmmm - inference that mine's covered in oil and coffee stains there somewhere......... Well I deny I even have coffee aboard! And I don't spill the rum so that leaves oil If you had looked towards the beach/bar ( ) and waved I would have rowed out in the tender to pick you up m8 - it was far too nice to be bobbing around in the sun that afternoon - fishing came a poor second I am afraid I regretted not having the hh vhf as soon as you came into view
