Swainiac Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Taidermist is what you want, but I'd prefer to llook at a photo, and leave them swimming Kam. Rich Quote
great white Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 You may find something on Google or ebay Kam To late to worry about conservation after they are mounted Rich, But I would also rather display a photo of a fine fish prior to its safe return than some tatty boxed corpse with glass eyes. Newboy Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 Bass is too tasty to stuff , I'm looking for one that's already stuffed as a present for a friend who like bass. Quote
hotshot Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 That reminds me of the lady who had a pair of pet monkeys that died. She'd loved them so much that she decided to take them to a taxidermist, so she could have them stuffed and keep their memory alive. After she left the shop the taxidermist suddenly realised he'd forgotten to ask whether she wanted them in a glass case or on a plinth. He telephoned her, and said, "I forgot to ask - did you want them mounted?" "Oh, no!", said the woman, "just holding hands will be fine..."! Sorry.... Quote
plaicemat Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 One can buy stuffed fish at many auction houses, there was a time when they were very collectable but now the price seems to be coming down. Unfortunately, the majority of stuffed fish seem to be freshwater varieties, I think I've only seen one sea variety. Whether this is because of technical problems or because people eat their trophies before getting them to the taxidermist, I don't know. See if you can get a large perch and paint it! Quote
Coddy Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 You could always go around some of the "fishermen" pubs around the coast and check them out! Well it is a good excuse for drink or six! Coddy Quote

Member Removed Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 There is a taxidermist is Salisbury, who'll stuff anything your have or get it for you, i used him a couple of years ago to stuff some rats for me (for training) he was very good, found the correct breed of rat and did a superb stuffing job. They're still in perfect condition having been handled by a couple of thousand students!!!. Unfortunately i don't have his number, but he was in the yellow pages. Quote
Gnasher Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 watching an old Jackass programme on MTV the other week, and Jonny Knoxville took an old lady into a taxerdermist in america, he said she didnt have long, and asked if they would stuff her...........the taxerdermist was actually up for discussing a price was funny though Quote
