Harry S
Does anyone know where I could get a spare key made for a Quicksilver remote control attached to a Mariner 60hp Bigfoot? A source of Quicksilver key blanks would also do the trick. I live too far inland for any local keycutters to stock boat bits! Hopefully, Harry
Seamouse
In conversation with the guys at Warrior, they mentioned that Mariners use very few key variations and implied they'd pretty well all of them in stock. Could try giving them a ring if you know your key number? By contrast, there are allegedly many Evinrude variants and there's something about the design of the remote that seems to encourage leaning on the key. I've already had to bend mine straight twice and it is nasty cheap metal. I sense an 'at-sea' disaster looming. Steve

Newboy
I had a 1990's Mercury with Merc remote control and there were on 16 keys (A-H and 1+2), it states which key you have stamped on the key itself. All you need is quote the number over the phone.
Coddy
I obtained a replacement/spare key the other week for my Mariner. Select Marine in Poole keeps them in stock, you just need the letters/number from your key and he gives you a replacement. I expect there are not many variants as no key cutting was involved! Select Marine's number is 01202 742474 Mention you are a member of the PBSBAC. Coddy

Harry S
Guys, Thanks for the all the advice. The problem I have is that there is no visible number on the key - it has a squarish heat shrunk/moulded black plastic cover on the top of the key with the 'Quicksilver' logo embossed on it. Would there be a number on the remote itself? Its about 5-6 years old. Regards, Harry Edited September 20, 2006 by Hook'n'Eye
