crazy fred Posted October 12, 2006 Author Report Posted October 12, 2006 just a shade under 800hp not like the chap who bought cyclone. his other boat has 7500hp and is 240ft long and has a top speed of 18 knts and burns 2 tons yes thats two tons of fuel an hour whilst towing. so its wiping out two of the earths resources at once ie fuel and mackerel as the average tow is 2-300 tons per haul. When in season and a three day trip =1000-1400 tons for three day trip and it then takes nearly two day's to pump the fish ashore at 40 tons per hour now thats fishing Quote
Maverick Martin Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Those macky are nice and fresh when they reach the shops then Quote
crazy fred Posted October 12, 2006 Author Report Posted October 12, 2006 most go to japan, when there caught there stored in rsw tanks held at -1 then landed to the processor and shipped off. They haul the trawls which have net monitors on which tells them when they have about 200 tons in so as to not crush the catch but when blue whiting fishing 500 tons a haul is not uncommon these nets fish 70 mtrs high and around the front edge of the trwl it is 2400mtrs!! that would trawl up most football grounds Quote
Member Removed Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 hi fred i can see that this boat is in soton by the itchen bridge .was it built on the i.o.w?? Quote
great white Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Ok Fred I will ask What will Cyclone be used for commercailly? If the owner has a large trawler I can not see her used just for pleasure angling Charlie Quote
