jack
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to remove sikafix/flex or whatever.? I need to remove the Solar panel which I superbly screwed and glued to the roof of my motorhome.Needless to say I dont want to damage the roof surface, and would prefer to leave no trace other than the 4 small plugging caps I intend to seal the screw holes with..Any help /advice welcome. PS. has been in place less than 6 months...thanks..jack

Other than that find the Sickaflex web site and ask them what they think. I have removed Sickaflex mechanicaly (thin sharp blade) to replace the perspex in a hatch. britboard
Use some cheesewire to cut through below panel, then carefuly use a window scraper, the type with a stanley blade to get as much off as you can without damaging the surface. Then get an old towel and place over the residue and soak with acetone then cover with polythene and tape down the edges so the acetone doesn't evaporate, wait a couple of hours and then scrape off using a plastic scraper. this releases the Sikaflex from most surfaces, Dont forget to wax the Fiberglass again after leaving it to dry for a while or it will absorb water in that area. worked for me on various hovercraft i've built Simon L
Fugazi
Jack, If you can find a long thin filleting type of knife it might be possible to get underneath and work a way in gradually. If you only used a few dabs of sealant this should work, but if you
Brian
Jack I'd go with Simon's cheesewire. If you can't find anything suitable, Stainless Mig welding wire would do, get a suitable length, fit a handle to each end and work it backwards and forwards as you pull it through. endeavour boats
Is the motorhome GRP or Aluminium? If its Ally, then i would leave it. If its GRP, use a stanley type scraper and take your time. have a bucket of Acetone with a cloth, and keep the Sikaflex moist... Hope this helps Steve
jack
THANKS ONE AND ALL.!! ....Job Done.!.. Used my filleting Knife [does not get used for much else ] Skin was very tough but once through, the remainder was like an eraser consistancy [perhaps because it had only been in place 6 months.right down to the last 2mm I could not pull the fittings away.[ superb gripping material.].cleaned off the remainder with a blunt ,round nosed dinner knife. Then sealed 4 tiny white plastic plugs into the screw holes useing a small amount of sikaflex which had still not hardened from the original tube used when fitting the panel....Well pleased all round. Thanks again..jack
