TomBettle
Hi Reg I may well be up for it, but I am already planning a foray up there to do an "exchange" fishing trip with a chap from another forum who runs a Skate boat. Let me try and firm up whether that is going to happen or not and I'll let you know. Cheers Tom
reg
Ok TOM if you get in touch with Adam as I have explained everything to him if you are still interested. I gave him another option as to getting up here. Try to find out as soon as poss as we have to book the lodge for the number of body's that are going to be able to give you a price. Rich is also interested in coming up. at least he will get a decent pint of lager up here. it nearly put me off it for life the stuff they pass off for lagerdown in poole. This should start a thread of Cheers Reg

Adam F
Update: Rich JAW Tom B Gordon M Adam F Can all of these let me know ASAP if they are still up for the trip as I need to get back to Reg ASAP. If it stays as 4 or less I am planning to drive up as it will be cheaper than flying, we will have the car for mobility and its less hastle with the tackle. If anyone else fancies it let me know. Cheers Adam

Newboy
Blimey, I don't think my TLD 15 and Conolon 30lb will cope You might be surprised. When I went the Nov before last, my friend brought up a 150lb skate on his 30lb gear on 30lb braid with no hanist , it just too a little longer (well a lot longer..... ). Adam F
Well, we are now down to just 2, Gordon and I. Last chance, if anyone fancies - i'll be letting Reg have numbers at the weekend.
Swainiac
Unfortunately, my term dates are similar to Alluns, and having discussed this one with Reg for the best part of a year, I am somewhat miffed to say the least!!! Sorry Reg, but I didnt enviage the new job coming along. What are the chances of flying up late friday evening to get a sat/sun in?? Rich
reg
Hi RICH. You would only get the sat in as we have to leave on the sat. Unless you are talking about the the first weekend we are also tied by the corren ferry if you miss that it's an eighty mile detour over the mountains. Even if you fly up to glasgow its a three hour trip from there or you could fly onto the isle of Arran but you have to wait till the tide goes out as you land on the beach. {sounds like fun} . But I am going to luce bay for the tope 28 of may for five days whit week If thats any good to you your welcome as you could fly to Newcastle the day before and you could stop overnight here with us and travel up with us the next day. Reg [ {sounds like fun
Manic Moore
Reg What are the timings? Adam and I are contemplating bringing Enticer. Also do you need to bring bait? Any general recomendations on tackle etc. Bearing in mind the average fish caught down here is probably less than 10lb Any considerations for boat equipment. I have been looking at the area (not certain what part you blokes fish) on my blue chart and there are parts that are 700 feet deep Regards Gordon
reg
Hi Gordon. We fish in water between 250-350 ft. So you want about 500ft of anchor rope Bait we usally catch up there. There are no takle shops around about so you have to be self sufficent. Never fished with squid up there as the mackrell seem to catch anything that swims traces we use plastic strimmer cable which you can get in the pound shops hooks9-10o bronze with the barb filed off some decent swivels I use barrel rather than then the wire one's. daylights/hokkis/feathers for catching bait I am takin some lighter tackle up this year. I usally take an uptider for catching bait. and have mostly taken 50lb rod with a pen 6-0 but am going to try a tld 15 which I bought from Adam and a lighter rod. it just takes longer. If they take a dive when they see daylight that will test your tackle. a butt pad a must. unless you have been castrated Line I use braid 30-50lb depends on what reel i using. weights somtime you can get away with 6-7oz other times 10-12 ozs. but don't fetch any up we will return Rich's favour. The ferry leaves Ardastang every hour but will double check on that for you. the last one is 9pm if you miss it its an 80 mile detour and from what i hear its a drive you don't want to do. I am going to see an old timer today to work out the best route for you once you are passed glasgow its all country rds if you are thinking of coming up that way. we go up to Stirling and across country . You are talking a 14 hour drive from Poole it takes us about six/seven from here as we go over glen coe. will send you the two best routes after we have worked them for you. whilst you are looking at the chart coming out of localine just before you turn left there are some pinnicle that don't show on high water and many a yacht as had the bottom ripped out. but will fill you in on that later. Petrol you will have to fill up before you get to the ferry as there is no petrol stn's after that. will inform you of anything else when i sort your routes out Reg
