Member Removed Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Hi, am looking to buy a Quicksilver 640 Pilothouse for fishing/fun/odd overnight stay. Have been advised to checkout review forums before buying. Any suggestions ???? Many thanks. Quote
Adam F Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Hi, Welcome to our forum. The Quicksilver 640 has been discussed a few times in the past already: http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?s...quicksilver+640 http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?s...quicksilver+640 http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?a...quicksilver+640 Overall to sum up, they seem a reasonable boat but somewhat dogged by quality issues. Have you considered any of the other pilothouses? Adam Quote
TomBettle Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Hi Blu Gul Welcome to the site. I hope you get useful feedback from the guys on here. All the best Tom Quote
Afishionado Posted January 27, 2007 Report Posted January 27, 2007 Adam sums it up, but to add details several have had to be replaced the hull falures have been that bad. We were going to buy one but after hearing several bad reports (also engine quality issues on the deisel version) we looked again at the market, Avor, Benatau, Rodman, and Jeanneau. We ended up buying a Jeanneau 625 which has a far higher quality for a slightly larger boat, as you will see for yourself if you go and look. Pricewise I will not discuss figures but suffice it to say the deal we got was very competative compared to the Quicksilver and for a far far better boat. I would also point out that this is a totally unbiased opinion bearing in mind that the Poole Jeanneau dealer is a club member. We did try to source a boat at a better deal else where but we were totally satisfied by buying localy. Mad Mike Quote
