Afishionado Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 I want to fit a screen wiper to my boat. The marine ones cost about Quote
Adam F Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 Not too sure on this one Mike - I dont think it will work at all. However all you need is a transformer, and youll be away! - Where to get one, well thats another question! Quote
Newboy Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 Don't you get 24v by joining 2 x 12v batteries in series? or is it in parallel? It's been a little while since my CSE physics Anyway, wouldn't the cost of the batteries outweights the saving you made on the 24v wipers? On the other hand you can always change everything on the boat over to 24v ........... Quote
Bob F Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 Mike, It wont work with 12v. A transformer will not work from a DC input. You need AC. You can buy DC to DC converters, but it's not worth the expense and effort. Wiring two 12v batteries in series will give you 24v, but again, not worth the effort. Look for a 12v wiper. cheers Bob F.
