Charlie Oooops! What's her name Charlie? I thought I saw you running out of the East Looe Channel on Sunday morning and doing a couple of loops off Sandbanks beach before heading back. charlieannear
She's called Star Turn and I've just put some photos in the Photo Gallery. Launched from Baiter about 10.30. Spent the day in Poole Harbour with the cable giving up the ghost at about 16.

Charlie Do you NEED to get the cable localy? It's just that you will almost certainly pay highly for the privilege compared to ebay. Whoops Update Update!!!!!! Go to Quaywest Chandlers See ....http://www.quaywestmarine.co.uk/search.asp?SearchType=ANY They are behind Mitchells in Lathams old boat building yard. charlieannear
Yep, the reason I said locally is because I don't know exactly what I need. Therefore I wanted to hand the old one to a person behind a counter and say "A new one of these please" I also recall someone going through this excerise recently (but couldn't find it with a search) Otherwise I'm normally a tinternet wizz! Great, I'll give Quaywest Chandlers first crack then. C. P.S I got a whole day's use out of the old one before it went twang!
Paul D
Charlie, Probably mine that you recall reading about. My teleflex cable snapped last year whilst returning to Wick. Probably a teleflex cable that you require - just get the correct length one ( ie. same as one you have ). Quay west will sort you out - they are really helpful and competitive prices as well. Newboy
How old is your Shetland, someo the older one used the washing line and still do if haven't been changed already. The teleflex has an extra length sticking out while the washing line has a spiral cone thingy.
charlieannear
Thanks Paul, thought it was you but couldn't find the post! Kam She's a 1980, but the I don't think the steering is original. Looks like a Teleflex type to me... but then, what do I know! charlieannear
New cable picked up from Quay West and now fitted. Steering as light as a feather now- roll on the weekend! C.
Newboy
Worth remembering to lube the cable annully as it helps to prevent it from seizing up.
