Wedger
Many of you will have experience of Wick Ferry slip so perhaps I could beg a little advice on launch timing. The official advice notice recommends high water only so this coming weekend looks quite tricky for an early morning sortie. Not forgetting that Otter is quite a big tub for a trailer boat, What would you consider to be the lowest state of tide I might launch and still be safe? Any comments welcome T Edited April 19, 2007 by Wedger
Tomo
Launching is not so much a problem...........its retrieval that's the real problem as the drop of at the end of the slip will not allow you to pull boat and trailer out together. Ive, launched my Pirate 21 ( Souter 21 built by Pembrokshire ) at low water just be carefull as you back the wheels over the ledge...You can retrieve the empty trailer providing you have a 4 x 4 . I would say as a guide to be safe, 2 hrs either side of low water springs for launching and mid tide for retrieval. Tomo

Paul D
It was about as low as they come when your returned last weekend..... Dont recall seeing how your retrieval went but I did see a rib totally wreck one of their wheelrims by trying to bump the trailer up over the dropoff at the end ( which is around 1 ft + now ). Wedger
I had no problems at all retrieving on Sunday. I took the back wheels to the end of the slip but not over giving myself about a foot for safety. Electric winch and away. If anyone has difficulty whilst I'm there with the Land Rover then give me a nudge........ she's a darlin'. Thank you fellas T Edited April 20, 2007 by Wedger
