dapper1965
Some better fishing at last. Went out on "June" yesterday. A late start as my fishing companion had to finish off some work in the morning but we got out about midday and decided to try Poole patch. When we got there the patch looked pretty full with three charters and a few private boats already fishing so we motored up to a buoy and tied off. First drop provided a nice Bream, my first on "June", but subsequent casts we kept losing tackle (snagging the bottom) and decided to move to the other end of the patch. Again my first cast and another decent Bream but this time we continued to catch until we finally decided to give up at around 1700. The weather remained dry but the wind and a steady swell made the fishing not quite as comfortable as it could have been. All in all the day was very enjoyable and a mixed bag of fish was very welcome, Bream to 2.5lbs, a solitary Bass of 2.5lbs, Wrasse, Pouting and the inevitable doggies. An uneventful trip back to Rockley and two of the Bream (both males) were very tasty and I slept well last night safe in the knowledge that my position as the chief hunter gatherer/provider for the family was secure!!! Tight lines Darren.
Afishionado
Well done on a successful day but just a word of caution.... Tying up to a pot marker bouy can lead to you getting at the very least an ear bashing if the pot owners turn up to bring in their pots. Worse than the ear bashing could be the very rough way they might slam alongside you as they make a polite request for you to ****** off. No joke!! It is also considered very bad 'form' to use pot markers to tie up on. These guys probably have several hundreds of pounds of gear attached to that bouy. Then a jolly fishing boat comes allong, ties up to it and the additional drag on the ground gear pulls the trot into snags maybe. Maverick Martin
Well done on your first proper Bream Good advice from Mike and it might also explain why you lost so much gear catching on the pots and lines Now that your an expert Breamist hope to see you fishing the comp sunday Martin
dapper1965
I shall consider myself ticked off re pot markers! Sorry Martin but I am afraid I now have to work Sunday so the Bream comp. is out until next year. Thanks for the offer of the route to the Bream mark, maybe I could take you up on that at a later date. Thanks to all, Darren.
