Honda Year Of Manufacture

I`m looking at buying a second hand auxillary , Honda 5hp 4 stroke but when i asked what year it was the bloke said he didn`t know exactly, but it must be less than 5yrs because it is silver.

 

Firstly ....can you tell what year it is by the serial no. ? If so how ? is it the last 2 digits giving the year?

 

secondly...Can anyone tell me what to look out for on this model ? i.e is there any recuring problems i should now about ?

Is this an Etec / 4 stroke thread?

Unable to see the first digit on the serial number picture, if it is D2 then it will be 2002. D3 = 2003 etc.
