Manic Moore
Adam and I are looking to organise a trip on Saturday of the comp to go to the Rips. At the moment we need 2 boats to go for buddy purposes so both of us need crew, or if we had another boat that wanted to make the trip, I would buddy with Adam. I will be at the meeting tonight or give me a call as on Friday night I will be out as well
Mike Fox
Would love to, but would hate to constrain you to 6 knots. Will have to await your ripping yarns with interest. Mike

Mike Fox
Like it Tom ! Can imagine the headline now... "Merry Fisher 695 rebuffed by agent. World's first lilo with inboard diesel engine and patio doors as replacement. Agent elevated to Lilo Lil status on club forum." Mike PS Are there cod AND pollack on the rips this time of year? Hmmm let me think about this. It has a 500Kg carrying capacity and I reckon that me and the engine is probably just under... ..If I tow the fuel tank..... I reckon it's do-able. Now I just have to find away of passing the shaft through the inflatable and stopping the engine from wobbling like a jelly on it's mounts. AHoy
I hope to be out with "Marsel" and crew for a while tomorrow, can someone PM me with the location as I don't recognize "the Rips", we might be able to act as a part-time buddy boat. Maybe catch some fish as well. AHoy
Afishionado
Hi Alan, The 'Rips' are about 20 miles out from Poole so its an all day jobbie and fine weather too. I have never been there but those that have have had good catches and large fuel bills. Mad Mike
Mike Fox
Alan, The Rips are around 20 miles south - still fancy playing? Mike
AHoy
I do indeed, but my insurance cover limits me to a max of 12NM offshore and they are not willing to extend cover. Looks like the Rips will have to wait.
Adam F
HI Alan, Who are you insured with that they wont extend cover? Im with Porthcawl and they didnt even want extra to cover further..... Seems strange to limit you to just 12 nm?
AHoy
I have one of the "standard" small power boat policies (can't recall underwriters at present) administered via Saga. They were adamant that only boats with a hull length 23 ft or more could be covered beyond 12NM. Perhaps (Saga hat on) they think in the event of engine failure I wouldn't be able to row back from more than 12 miles - age and weary muscles etc. Policy seems identical to offerings from other brokers, except that my excess was much lower with Saga and there were no exclusions on underwater gear. I will see what options on area are available when I renew. Edited June 8, 2007 by AHoy

I spacifically asked about that when I started the policy. However IMO a lot depends on who you talk to at these call centers. Most of the call staff are idiot savants working off a script. Insist on speaking to a manager and explain the situation to them, and by all means quote my experiance with them. Mad Mike
