Maverick Martin Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Last minute permission granted so Dean and I will be out on "AWOL" Sulking really works wonders Martin Quote
TomBettle Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 With the channel light vessel showing Easterly 6's and then generally nasty variable stuff throughout the day I have knocked my trip on the head so won't be fishing the comp unfortunately. Even inshore at Portland will be snotty with Variable (mainly southerlyish) 4's touching 5's coupled with a big Spring tide and you'll have a very ucomfortable race. No bassing for me. Guess I'll be better off working that fishing the Haven on a stock boat Quote
Maverick Martin Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 BTW Just spoke to Dean who is out today and he says its uncomfortable offshore but not to bad inshore Swanage bay area Martin Quote
TomBettle Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 (edited) BTW Just spoke to Dean who is out today and he says its uncomfortable offshore but not to bad inshore Swanage bay area Martin And the current forecast shows it marginally better today than tomorrow, plus all the rain tomorrow. This is supposed to be fun! Edited July 14, 2007 by TomBettle Quote
duncan Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 don't know about fun Tom but I am beginning to feel I am jinxing everyone by having the boat out. I think I had better put it back in the water for next weekend one way or another - maybe this will apease the weather gods! Quote

Sam Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 nothing worse than watching awol go pass your office window on a nice day sam Quote
TomBettle Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 nothing worse than watching awol go pass your office window on a nice day sam Sam count yourself lucky. At least you see them go past. I know they are going out, but my office window doesn't face the right way! Gutted I am not fishing inshore today. Would have been great to have been out with them. I am sure we will see plenty of reports of monster Bass by tomorrow evening. Quote
Mike Fox Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Went out through the Haven for a couple of hours into a SE3-4. Overcast and mild. Only pottered a short while (still no mackerel around the Hook Sands on trailed lines) and got back as the ebb was starting and it was starting to kick up a bit. Harbour full of boats drifting the channels - both North and South of "The Line", but no fish spotted being boated. The Harbour Master was watching intently too! Think I would have chosen a certain sheltered rock mark for the comp, had we been fishing it today. The open sea looked a little uncomfortable. Will await the results with interest! plaicemat Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Well done all you lot, I'm very jealous. I really wish I could have got down but I don't trust the back yet for launching and recovery and my crew is on holiday. Perhaps the weather will give me a decent day before I disappear for 3 or 4 weeks. Terry. Quote
Mike Fox Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Well done all who fished! Some great fish came in, and some really good tales told. Mike Quote
