Rob
Just been to the RNLI in Poole, the slipway at the end of Slip Way has been finished. The ramp at the end unfortunatley looks tight for a car launch and too steep for a hand launch. The are about 20 tenders in racks along each side and approx 6 parking spaces. Just a shame about the access, others may find it suitable but I don't think I could get my trailer down there but someone with better car and trailer control might be OK. With an early start you could get a car and trailer in the parking available. Or even park in ASDA for an eveing session as it is free after 6pm. Not sure how they would take to a car and trailer. Gazza
Rob, Is it a free slipway to the public or just members of the RNLI ? Gary
Rob
I think it is free, the road is public access to the Holes Bay which they built their campus around. I am not 100% but some guys here who work\live in Poole might be able to help. Anyone?
Maverick Martin
I understand it is for public use as a sweetener for the forthcoming loss of two other access points along West Quay Road Martin
Afishionado
It is a free public slip way, but it's use has been tailored to suit the commercial fishermen who need a dinghy to get to their boats in Holes bay. The slip has been constructed in such a manner as to make launching anything but a light dinghy virtually impossible due to a dog leg in the final approach by road. The other down side is the EXTREME parochial attitude of the commercial fishermen who feel and act as thought it is THEIR slip way, as they did with the older slip nearer the bridge. I would not advise parking (if one can indeed find a space) or attempting to leave a dinghy unattended there. The new slip has no benifit at all to those wanting to launch anything over 12ft. To our trailer boating lads it is a crock of ****. Mad Mike

Coddy
Sorry Dean not so. I am fortunate to be able to use the RNLI slipway. I will go down this week end and take a few pictures and try to post on the forum. Coddy
