gaffa
Don't tell me your upsizing already? If anyone is interested the boat is berthed close to mine and is in immaculate condition. A bargain I would say. Suggest you put a large for sale sign with price on the stern. The boat is easily viewable from the marina office area and you never know who may be watching. Will you be staying at Cobbs Alan? PeteG

I think the fine print on your berthing agreement will say that if you advertise your boat at Cobbs they are entitled to a %age commission. Mad Mike Ancasta have the rights to brokerage in Cobbs and would charge any other seller 1% of the final selling price (if they caught you!). Try: http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk http://www.boatshop24.com http://www.rightboat.com All of these are really worth a go. In addition try deepsea.co.uk's classifieds. gaffa
oops should have read the small print Well spotted chaps suggest you disregard my advice then Alan "Ancasta have the rights to brokerage in Cobbs and would charge any other seller 1% of the final selling price (if they caught you!)." Does this apply if you manage to privately sell the boat by means other than local advertising at Cobbs? e.g Boats and outboards ,newsagent advert etc? On the basis of 'What the eye does not see etc' keeping a low profile and all that I would certainly try to get away with it. great white
For interest If a broker sells a boat that is at the Yacht Club and does the viewings here the Club can claim 1% of the sale price from the broker. It comes from their cut, but is seldom claimed as we are a Members Club If it is a private sale at the Club nothing is charged/collected Brokers vary greatly in the amount [%] they want out of the deal, and in how hard they try to sell the boat for you. AHoy
Thanks for the suggestions and interest. I have been really pleased with the 640 but sooner than expected require more than basic cruising facilities. Early days yet, but expect to remain at Cobbs. Also understand that other parties would not be looking for a percentage in the event that I trade on or sell privately and do not use the marina facilities in doing so. Not expecting my catch rate to improve by changing boat though AHoy.

AHoy
So what type of boats are you looking at? Doubt it will be anything quite as nippy as yours Martin Looking at 23 - 25ft LOA, cross channel capable solo, diesel - preferably with shaft drive, Cat B rating, easy to manage when single-handed, around 18 knots cruising speed. Needs to have winter weekend comfort and enclosed heads so more cruising emphasis than QS640, but still with good fishing setup. Balance of budget and age/condition of available boats will influence final choice as well as standing costs on moorings/maintenance. Hoping that boat show trade-ins will increase choice. Been checking out spec of boats like Rodman 700, MF695, Antares 760, Ocqueteau 715/735 etc. Did like the Orkney 24 I saw at the show, but they are too pricey and have stern drive. Did have fleeting dreams of a MF805 but Tom isn't giving them away at a loss just yet Bit big for single handing anyway .....
