gjb Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 has any one had any dealings with raymarine A65 chartplotter/fishfinder if so any good or bad points all so thru-hull transducers cheers graham Quote
Maverick Martin Posted October 7, 2007 Report Posted October 7, 2007 I have a Raymarine A65 and cant fault it apart from it cutting out once, this was due to a power surge when starting the engine. I always make sure the plotter is switched of now when starting the engine. The plotter part is very clear with a good picture quality. I only have the plotter not the sounder part as I have the Raymarine DS600 sounder. This has a through the hull transducer and works a treat Have you inherited one with your new boat purchase or are you considering buying one? Martin Quote
gjb Posted October 7, 2007 Author Report Posted October 7, 2007 i am thinking of buying one as it looks as if it will cover all i want thanks for the info martin Quote
TomBettle Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 i am thinking of buying one as it looks as if it will cover all i want thanks for the info martin Hi Graham As martin say's it is a good all round unit. It is verging on the small side for a combined unit, but if you primarily switch from one screen to the other then both are very very good. In spllit screen mode it is excellent just a little petite, OK for ocasional wreck drifts or for pinpoint anchoring. It uses the same screen as the C70 and the only key difference is the C70 has the ability to add Radar. In the same sort of price range also consider the new Navman 8" screen. This is also a very good bit of kit and comes in a complete package. Tom PS: For your boat you would probably be better off with a transom mount transducer rather than a through hull one. Quote
gjb Posted October 8, 2007 Author Report Posted October 8, 2007 thankyou tom all info great to hear about, but why transom and not in-hull i don't think it is foam filled hull cheers graham Quote
