Mike Fox
Am afraid not. Didn't like the state of the Swash in the SE chop at slack water and one drift was enough. Stuck to fishing the harbour today, and it was grim. A few small wrasse off the Castle, one tiny gurnard, and a few worm tails chewed. Very disappointing. Saw one boat have a pollack, and another claimed a small plaice. Loads fishing in the harbour as was lumpy out. Even the charter boats stayed inside. Let's hope the wind is lighter tomorrow! Deep Sea Dean
Today really was a waste of time. Wind made me think twice about venturing out to the planned mark so headed off to the island as well. Should have stayed at home! dogfish and strap conger was our lot. Venturing a few more miles out to try and find some more tide bought more bites but wind against what little tide there was meant we were beem on to the chop. Not that nice really. Now feeling a little unmotivated for 2mo.

Paul J
It was a lot sloppier than expected and not comfortable at all, still nice to being out doing something different for a change. Fishing was slow with only dogs except for a single whiting to me which went 3lb 4oz. The boat took an age to turn in the slack tide so we didn't really fish the flood too much as we were beam on most of the time. We went inshore into the needles to throw some lures around for about 10 mins which resulted in a 2lb bass. We then trolled around and hooked about a dozen Garfish which was fun. We then bolted home and amused ourselves with the slipway antics of the WAfI's. Thanks to Paul D for a pleasant day out on the good ship Neo PJ
Adam F
Good to be back out!! Went over to the Needles with Gordon as crew - well out of practise and even with the late start, the longer tow from the new house, and having not fished for a few months meant I forgot kit etc. A slow day for us - I had a 4lb 4oz Spotted Ray, and a few doggies, Gordon wasnt any beter. Anyway - the engine ran well - pretty tight and a little noisy (I guess due to it being new?) but stil smooth and powerful. Good luck to those who get out tomorrow. Bob F
Fished out of Weymouth with Jas. Not a great day for me, but a very good day for Jas. It was a bit sloppy on the way out past the breakwater but once we were at the Race off the Bill it smoothed out a bit. Plenty of mackerel about and a lot of Garfish, too. We caught some nice Joeys so tried for some bass on the Race but there was not enough tide. So we b switched to Bream rigs with Rag and squid baits. This is a summary of the catch sequence: Jas - 2lb Bream; Bob - tangled rig. Jas - 2 nice bream; Bob - tangled rig. Jas - 3 nice bream!!! (3 hook patternoster); Bob - tanlged with his bass rig!! Jas - 2 nice bream and a pout; Bob - a small bream (at last!!) Jas - 2 clonking great Pout; Bob - watching Jas. Jas - a big Mummy Pout, teenage pout, baby pout (a whole family on one rig); Bob - bored. Jas - another nice Bream; Bob - sharpening knife. Jas - another nice Bream; Bob - weird look creeping across face, and slight twitch. Jas - another nice Bream; Bob - attempts to lash out with knife but cuts the lanyard holding my prescription sunglasses and loose them over the side - Edited October 21, 2007 by Bob F
