Neal
Well done Alun - a very special fish - and well deserved. You may be interested to know - that if it was the charter boat "Beowulf" that plonked itself down next to you - then that was also the boat that won the cod competition. Also, it was another club member that caught that fish too!! Happy new year Alun Neal
Paul J
Fantastic fish Aun and what a way to end the year Does it get any better? I see you had golden balls junior for crew that was the luck. Im sure it took skill not to fall out of the boat in shock when you saw the fish Well done matey PJ
Rob
I can confirm the boat was SHA-KING of Poole. Thanks Paul Rob
alun j.
Thanks to ALL of you for the congratulatory remarks.... I'm quite touched!! There had to be a big slice of luck [unlike fishing the Bridge in Summer when you know the 'Target'] and it could easily have gone for Rob's bait as mine. If skill was involved, it was mostly about putting us on a mark I've been working over for the past 6 weeks and knowing when to stay or move. We're off to give it another go tomorrow but the tide is different, so will be interesting to see if that will work .....Target.... more Cod !!! We may have close company......in the dogfish action!!!! Alun.

TomBettle
Superb fish Alun. What an absolute beauty. Great angling mate! Reckon that one could stay a record for a little while? Tom ....or not?
Wedger
I'm sure Alun will enjoy the record spot for a while, but it won't stop a few of us trying for the top spot!
Paul J
This record will take some beating but there are plenty of opportunities to up the catch and release bass record. I think it currently stands at around 13lbs and the 2007 trophy will go to a fish of about 10lb 6oz so plenty of scope for a new champion here. I for one plan to challange big Al for this years trophy PJ
Fugazi
Well done Alun it looks like all that extra fishing time spent since retiring is paying off and proving that the more you practice the luckier you get. Keep this up and I can see you being selected for the England team and winning the Suzuki National Boat League Final in 2008. toerag
Nice fish, well done! - it'll be good to see all the facts and figures posted where once the scales have been read.
Wedger
Sorry guys, I dragged my heels a bit on that one. I had a look at a couple of scales and the best I can make out so far is 17-18 years. This makes it a relatively young fish for its weight. Alun did say it was chunky. I'll sort out the best photo and post it as I still have to send a couple to 'The Bear'.
Rob
Alun, You have a half page in Sea Angler March Issue! Nice pic of Dan T's whiting on Neo too. Good PR for the club! Rob
