I need someone to come and fit my Standard Horizon cp1000 to the boat.

Last year I used a lad Martin recommended to fit the VHF but for the life of me I can't remember his name or number.

If anyone can recommend a suitable (cash in hand) person to do the job I would be greatfull.

where abouts are you mounting it Mike?

flush or on a stand?

Dan

On it's mounting bracket on the dashboard if possible. Did you have to try different spots on your 625 or is sort of dead obvious?

oohh very flash! tongue.gif

Instead of placing the plotter infront of the steeing wheel, below the rev counter, or behind it, we initially had it on the U shaped bracket that comes with it, fixed on the downward part of the roof, infront of your head!

this was better because it didnt have sunlight viewing problems, and wasnt at a silly angle if on the map area.

We've since changed the U shaped bracket, and flush mounted it onto a big strip of Teak, along the head lining, which stops any vibration, cannot be easily removed, allows the plotter to be accessed by people other than the helm, and keeps it out of sunlight!

(also the teak looks pretty good, making a change to boring white!)

Dan

ill try and get a photo, but it might have to be a photoshop on a web image!)

Teak pannels sketched with the black lines (roughly,,, lol) the new plotter position is slightly more towards the left, with the plotter flush mounted into a hole in the teak)

hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Dan. It would be great if you could post (or give me a link to) a photo. Was finding or placing power and earth leads a problem?

Nice set Mike

It will look good on the boat.

I nearly fitted one of those as the plotter with the fishfinder module, and had seriously considered getting a second later to split the FF and plotter on two large screens.

But I decided to stick with the lowrance / Navionics partnership that I had on GW

dont worry, i wont repeat myself.. tongue.gif

ill try to get a photo when im next down @ the boat.

power went down the side, to the right of the driver (in the roof lining), then down the silver pipe on the corner (which has a bung on the bottom), where it connects to the switchboard, and to the VHF (for DSC).

aerial wire goes directly from the front, to the little hatch outside the patio doors, where we mounted the aerial over the steaming lights original position (as its reinforced)

we also had to drill a small hole in the glassfibre above the silver tube, as we had trouble getting to the wire at the time!

it took a fair bit of struggling with coat hangers and running lines, and a bit of lateral thinking!
