Where are you keeping her Dave? My gods that brochure gave me goose bumps of nostalgia, as well as your latest pictures. A fine looking 'proper' boat even with a new 'Eau I feel a touch jealous as I love the traditional shape. Good luck to you and all who sail in her.

Hi Tim and Mike

Mike, you will see her as you leave Cobbs, just off the RNLI pontoons on trot moorings.

Tim, thanks for the offer regarding painting, intersted in the canopy contact, will PM you.

Took Lady C out for a trial run today! biggrin.gif

Didn't know my clearance height so waited for the bridge to open, the G&T lot don't like it if you pass them cause they are not close to the bridge do they! laugh.gif

We came back early and managed to get under the bridge at 2.45mtr so I now know the min height required.

Went out down to Bournemouth and had her up to 18+kts but with the swell out there it was interesting. Handled well, however I think at some time I might have to invest in hydraulic steering to make life easier and less muscle building.

Soooo much nicer sitting in a cabin and not getting wet and wind in the eyes, (if you wear glasses you will know what I mean)

In searching through the storage areas I found a large fishermans anchor, bruce look-a-like, folding anchor, full set of tools in tool box, engine hoses and clips, safety light (need the holder that mounts it upside down), loads of rope of all types and I have still to dig further down!

Just got the toilet to sort out sick.gif looks like it has not been used for years so I hate to think if I will get the seacock to work!

The anchor winch needs sorting out as it only seems to wind in and the foot switches don't seem to work but that should not be too much of a problem.

Just got to load up with fishing gear and she may be ready for some fish!

Might see you out there next week-end wink.gif

Sea cocks...... If I remember they are of the 'taper fit' variety. These do tend to lock twist wise through lack of use. Undo the nut at the bottom of the valve body and tap the threaded bit (rubber/nylon hammer) up to loosen the tapered bit. remembering to have summat to block the flood of water inwards!!.

Clean up the seating on both the male and female sides with wire wool or 240 wet or dry and grease both with SILICONE grease and reassemble.

The power winches take a BIG amperage but at only 12Volt. They suffer from poor contact at both ends of the cable run (which by the way should be as thick as car battery cable). First check the contacts for verdigris which is removed easily with a very special product called ......... Cillit Bang!! (GRIME & LIME)

Nice to hear that the sea trial went well

Sounds like sorting out and landing some of the extra kit will get her up to the quoted 2o knots.

Hope to see you out there very soon. Tight Lines

Dave.... you'll love her to bits,

but get real kidda, nobody in our line-a-business needs to wait for the Birmingham Navy or the Riche G P's........... huh.gif

Take a quiet moment and offer her up to the bridge.

I'm not encouraging anything wreckless here, but I 'tee'd' Otter up and found by careful alignment and masthead down, we made most tides easy.

Happy hunting chaps.

My 'Eau, Pride of Morpork has an air draft of 2.15 metres and I would wager is higher than the Romany. I have never seen the air draft on the bridge less than 2.2 metres. They measure the air draft from the lower edge of the big blue girders so if you line up with the gaps between you can slide under.

Don't the plastic fantastic posh cruisers get a cob on if you wriggle past them and go under the closed bridge whilst they are waiting for it to lift. Silly buggers, like one is going to wait when you can go under it when it's still closed.

Quite right my 'Porky-More-Plumply-too-Friend'

We tested this last year, by dodging through a hail of lime-and-lemon rinds, just before spring high.

quite exhilarating

Somewhere you were asking about identifying what model of Volvo outdrive you've got.

I've got the Seloc Volvo Stern Drive manual, which covers the 250, 270, 275, 280 and 290 models.

You are welcome to borrow it if you want.
