PBSBAC Bream Comp - Sunday 18th

Today........ I went out on the Ledge [bit of a roll] ...... but inshore , nice and smooth.

Went out on a wrecking trip today and calm mid channel as well. Weather forecast does look a bit grim for Sunday though ( 5 - 6 ft swell forecast on Magic Seaweed as well ), so not sure I fancy fishing in lumpy conditions to be honest.

Not that i'm pre-empting anything, as I'm gagging to get out Sunday..

 

If its called off, would it be possible to set a future date asap, as I'm overdue for a haul out and antifoul and a pile of jobs, and wouldnt want to be ashore, and miss the date.....

All the forecasts I'm looking at have eased a lot for Sunday.

 

Single figure mph. from E and NE.

 

Hoping it's 'On'................ I have worms......and a trophy to retain!

It's a little close to call at the moment, so Ive discussed with Paul J and I'll make a decision when the Met office update between 5 and 6pm.

Well the Met Office have just updated and have issued a strong wind warning for tomorrow:

 

Inshore waters forecast

24 hour forecast: 1800 Sat 17 May 1800 Sun 18 May

Wind East or northeast 3 or 4, increasing 5 or 6 for a time.

Sea state Slight or moderate.

Weather Thundery showers, becoming fair later.

Visibility Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

 

It is still iffy, but in the interest of making a call for all boats big and small. The competition is POSTPONED.

I suggest the 1st June as the next date?

 

Apologies for the late call - it hasnt been an easy one this weekend! Good luck if you do get out and stay safe!

Good call Adam; it turned out too windy and would have made most bream spots too uncomfortable.

 

We bumped round the corner and fished D. Ledge for a couple of breamless hours, where we we joined by about 6 charters [in close formation!!] who didn't seem to fare any better.

 

The wind freshened and mover around from NE, through E and went SE for a while. Before then, we explored further west and ended up in Chapman's Pool; interesting ground, lots of water close in and sheltered in the sunshine. Fishing was lively for a while with pollack, rays and wrasse.......but no sign of any bream here!!

 

Met up , briefly, with Duncan on Claret and Blue......... a nice looking Warrior 175

.......who had steamed up from Kimmeridge......... and joined us doing circles in the funny tidal streams in our sunny corner!

 

Good day out..........but glad it wasn't the Bream Comp.!

 

Thanks Paul....... Imagine is a great fishing platform........and breezed through that rough stuff under the Purbecks ........Great bacon sarnies and supply of tea!!

there are a few 1 way tidal spots on the reef in C Pool.......very usefull if the wind if fresh but from the right direction at times!

 

often find thornbacks there for some reason
